Rams fly by Riverhawks 103-78

BLUEFIELD, Va. -- Bluefield College men's basketball team evened their record at 5-5 with an emphatic 103-78 win over WVU of Parkersburg on Friday night at the Dome Gymnasium.
Sophomore guard Andrew Wilson (Cucamonga, Calif.) and senior center Byron Carpenter (Virginia Beach, Va.) each tallied 27 points while sophomore forward Deante Hallums (Woodbridge, Va.) and junior guard Kearsten Marion (Houston, Texas) each netted 17 points as four of the Rams starters scored in double figures. Carpenter led the Rams with a game-high seven rebounds while Marion provided a season and game-high seven assists.
Darrius Jenkins led the Riverhawks with 28 points while Keith Penn recorded 22 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
With the 25 point win Coach Richard Morgan emptied the bench getting 11 players at least four minutes of action.
The Rams return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host their fourth team ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Men's Basketball Division I Coaches Top-25 Poll with a 4 p.m. tip at the Dome Gymnasium against West Virginia Tech. The Rams defeated Tech 102-92 on Nov. 20 after beating then third-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) 96-89 in their first Mid-South Conference match on Nov. 15.

Century: The Rams scored in triple-digits for the second time on the season as they book-ended a four-game losing streak with a 102-92 victory against West Virginia Tech before beating WVU-Parkersbug 103-78 on the either end of losses to Elizabeth City State (N.C.), Claflin (S.C.), Cumberland (Tenn.), and Cumberlands (Ky.). The Rams host WV Tech tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the Dome Gymnasium.
