The Rams baseball team has ignited its 2012 season with winning its third doubleheader of the season over Philadelphia Baptist scoring 43 runs on the NCCA Div III side on Wednesday afternoon during their home opener at Bowen Field.
Fans have had to wait quite a while for the Rams to host a team in the 2012 season, but finally the wait is over. And they were treated with huge offensive show in Bluefield.
Bluefield was not only successful on Wednesday in their two shutouts over PBU , but the Rams have won eight of their last ten games dating back to March 5th on their trip to Florida.
Not only did the Rams sweep both Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) and Evangel (Mo.), but they bounced back with a homerun derby showdown in their final of three games versus Reinhardt last Saturday,
After dropping their only two games in more than two weeks, the Rams scored 22 runs on the Eagles including seven homeruns on the afternoon. Garza picked up in the win in Georgia.
After a long, yet successful Spring break trip, Bluefield continued their dominance when they traveled to Emory and Henry on Tuesday afternoon. The Blue & White scored another 14 runs on 16 hits against the Wasps.
The 'Long Brothers' led the way offensively for the Rams by combining for six hits, with Kyle Long going 3 for 6 and Kaleb sparking for 3-5 at the plate. Emory and Henry started off the game leading 3-1 over the Rams, but BC came back with five runs in the 2nd inning to take the lead and never look back.
Andrew Kirks picked up the win on the afternoon and now sits at 2-0 on the season.
Bluefield returned on Wednesday for its first home series of the year. And it was all Rams. Coach White's side went for 43 runs in the two games combined, including 28 runs in the first game over Philadelphia Bible.
With another three wins in the early portion of the week, they move to 16-8 overall yet only 1-4 in the AAC.
The Rams will stay at home for their first conference series of the year when they face Milligan (12-14) for a three-game series, Friday through Sunday. Gametime for Friday's doubleheader is set to start at 1:00pm EST.
