Prospective College Students Invited to Bluefield College Open House

Bluefield College will open its doors to prospective students and their families as part of its annual Spring Open House, Saturday, March 20, beginning with registration at 9:45 a.m. in Harman Chapel.

February 15, 2010

Bluefield College is a four-year, Christ-centered liberal arts college, which offers a challenging academic experience within a diverse Christian environment. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), BC's academic and co-curricular programs transform students' lives by integrating liberal arts with career-oriented studies and service to God and the global community.

The March 20 Spring Open House will give students and their parents an opportunity to learn more about the college through campus tours and interaction with administrators and professors.

Following registration at 10 a.m., the college will present a BC Family Assembly, which will introduce the visiting students to life at Bluefield College. At 10:45 a.m., the school will offer campus tours with Student Ambassadors, who will show visitors East River Residence Hall, a new modern living-learning facility; a video conferencing facility that connects the school to academic environments around the world; 10 computer labs and 11 "SMART" classrooms with high-tech presentation devices, modern projection equipment, SMART Boards, computers, DVD players, and surround-sound audio systems; and other recently renovated residence halls.

At 11:30 a.m., prospective students and their families are invited to an Academic Fair, which will introduce the visiting students to the 22 majors and minors available at the college, including business, communications, forensic science, biology/pre-med, and teacher education, and how each major of study prepares students to "communicate effectively, think critically, and adapt readily to a changing world."

Lunch will be served at noon, followed by a Q&A panel called "Bluefield College 360." The Open House schedule also will include the opportunity for students and parents to meet one-on-one with financial aid and admissions counselors and/or audition for BC's select music ensembles.
