No. 10 Campbellsville tops Rams

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Bluefield women’s basketball team lost Saturday’s road match-up with No. 10 Campbellsville, 87-70.
Bluefield (12-6, 3-4 Mid-South) was led in scoring by Ashley White for the second time in three days. The 5-foot-3 senior from Philadelphia scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Teqa McNeal scored 20 points for the Rams. Janee’ Simmons recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Rams shot 43.9 percent from the floor, compared to 45.5 percent by the Lady Tigers (14-3, 7-1 MSC). Bluefield held a 42-40 rebounding advantage, but turned the ball over 23 times.
The Rams trailed by as many as ten points in the first half, but a 7-2 run heading into the break brought the deficit to 42-37.
Bluefield took a 47-46 lead early in the second half, but the Lady Tigers responded with a 20-3 run, and the Rams did not recover.
The Rams continue their stretch of road games on Thursday at Rio Grande (5-11, 0-8 MSC).
