Men's Soccer set for first regular season opener By Sports Information Department BC | August 26, 2011 | RSS Bluefield College Athletics Sports Information Department Bluefield, Virginia This weekend fall sports kick off for several Bluefield College sports including Men's Soccer. The men's team will travel to Portsmouth, Ohio to face Mid-South Conference opponent, Shawnee State University at 3:00pm. The Rams are coming off a 3-1 win over Southern Virginia in an exhibition match last Thursday, with two goals from Pedro Frazillio and a goal and assist from freshman Jacob Mader. "Overall, I was happy with the outcome of the match against Southern Virginia", mentioned head coach Peter Dryer. "We must look ahead though and understand our opponent's level will drastically increase over the course of the next few weeks." Shawnee State had an overall record of 8-10 last season in 2010, with two similar opponents Bluefield College had a year ago in WV Tech and Campbellsville. Bluefield will look to have SSU's number on Saturday and will have to get used to it. Next season, BC and Shawnee will become fellow conference opponents in the Mid-South. The Rams will open their schedule at home next Thursday against Washington and Lee. No live stats will be available for Shawnee State, but be sure to follow the Rams live via Twitter @BluefieldRams for up-to-the-minute scores, updates and more.
