It has been a very successful week for Coach Morgan and his basketball team as the Rams went 2-0 this past week with two conference wins over Union (Ky.) and Point (Ga.) in four days.
Starting the season with an extremely tough non-conference schedule, Morgan was preparing his team for AAC action which started this past week. The tough schedule paid off as the Rams cruised past the two conference members with dominating performances.
Bluefield opened their 2011 AAC campaign with an absolute bruising of the Bulldogs from Union (Ky.) 118-84. In the first half, the Rams were the aggressor right from the start, controlling the Bulldogs from the opening tip. At the end of the first 20 minutes of action, Bluefield held a comfortable 62-37 lead over Union as both teams went into the locker room for intermission.
It was the second time this season already that the Rams have won by 30+ points over their opponent.
On Saturday, the Rams traveled alongside the women's team to Atlanta, Georgia to take a pair of games as both squads stole the show with the Rams winning 89-71 as the Rams were carried by Carpenter's 30 points on the afternoon.
Two straight wins for the Bluefield moves their record one game away from .500 as they currently sit at 5-6 on the season.
The Rams will look ahead to a cross-state/town rivalry game this week as they play at Bluefield State on December 7 at 8:00pm.
