Both teams arrived early in order to beat the inclement weather and would squeeze in two 7-inning games just in time. Friday afternoon both Akers and Hoyt would take the mound in Game one and Game two respectively. Neither ace would disappoint the home crowd. Rams Pitching froze VIC Friday afternoon The hitting would play a huge role in the way each of the Rams’ pitchers could attack the plate defensively and be able to work the opponents on a consistent basis. The Rams would compile 33 combined hits on the afternoon, 17 in the first game and 16 in the second. Game one would be a team effort with seven out of nine starters getting at least one hit on the afternoon, with Kyle Cabral going 4-4 and Travis Weaver 3-5, adding 2 RBI’s. While game two looked similar offensively, starting pitcher Adam Hoyt took over the game with his dominating performance. Hoyt struck out 12, while earning a 1-hitter and the win. He had the chance to pull off the no-hitter, until a late hit cramped up his team’s chance at perfection. Cameron Hynes went 3 for 3 with an RBI to lead the team in Game two. Rams tallied 33 hits on the doubleheader Friday The Rams will finish the series off Saturday afternoon on a neutral site as a home game for the Rams to finish up of the regular season.
