
LF Gatewood earns All-AAC baseball team honors; 8 on All-Academic

Asheville, North Carolina- The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday the season awards for All-Conference team, Golden Glove winners and All-AAC Academic team members with Bluefield picking up nine different players on the lists.
The top award for Bluefield was Senior leftfielder, Joe Gatewood, earning all-AAC accolades in his final season as a Ram.
Gatewood averaged a hefty .339 batting average and a .643 slugging percentage in the 2012 season, while only having three errors in left field on the defensive end.
The senior has crushed in 38 RBI's for the year, while adding 12 HR's. Gatewood ranks #19 in the NAIA in total home runs and has helped Bluefield earn a top 20 in HR/per a game average in the nation.

Gatewood will look to help carry his team through not only the AAC tournament this week, but also into the Mid-East Regionals in NCCAA play.
Bluefield's 2012 side also had a record-breaking number of players on this year's roster who earned All-AAC Academic team. They led the AAC in total number of student-athletes in men's baseball to earn this award with eight.
Players who earned All-Academic honors were: Ethan Lewis, Will Simpson, Greg Moon, Andrew Dickerson, Joey Andrews, Taylor Marshall, Elizer Cordero and Jordan Prater.
