Lady Rams win AAC Thriller in Overtime

Lady Rams advance to the semi- finals in the AAC tournament.

BARBOURSVILLE, Ky. — Kia Gilliard scored 25 points in the opening round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament, leading Bluefield to a thrilling 104-101 overtime victory at Union on Tuesday night.

 

Kia Gilliard helps lead the Lady Rams to the semi- finals game in the AAC Tournament.

Bluefield (11-18) will travel Friday to play top-seeded Milligan in the AAC semifinals.

 

Jasmin Washington added 16 points for Bluefield, while Tayieka Rouse and De'Arra Darling had 15 each. Kiara Honore' added 10.

 

Union also placed four players in double figures, paced by Wendi Messer with 24 points and nine rebounds, along with 23 points and 10 boards from Kara Pile.

 

Bluefield led 47-44 at the break, and outscored the Bulldogs 15-12 in overtime.

 

Darling and Rouse had 11 rebounds apiece for Bluefield.

 

The Lady Rams will play the number one seeded team Tennessee Wesleyan on February 25 at 7:30 pm at Tennessee Wesleyan.
