Lady Rams softball drops two to Virginia Intermont By Sports Information Department BC | April 20, 2011 | RSS Bluefield College Athletics Official Release Sports Information Office Bluefield, Virginia Lady Rams softball drops two to Virginia Intermont to close out conference Lindsey Lester pitches in Game 1 The Bluefield College Rams softball team has been on overload the past two weeks having to make up several double-headers due to early season weather postponements. As a result, the team looked a bit sluggish in two defeats against Virginia Intermont in Bluefield. Both contests were night games under the light, which made for a beautiful evening at Graham Recreational Park, but the quick-triggering bats of VIC would be tough to handle. In game one, P Lindsey Lester went the distance for the Lady Rams in two consecutive days of work on the hill. With little rest, VIC took advantage by tallying 11 hits off of her in the contest. On the offensive end, Lester would help her team as well, picking up a hit and a RBI. Tough to stop VIC though, as Rachel Cook went 3-4 with a double and HR. Final score would end 7-1. Game two would be more of the same. The Lady Rams kept it scoreless through three innings of work, until its conference foes connected on back-to-back hits to open the score line. The biggest impact was VIC’s freshman starting pitcher, Ashlynn Arnold, who threw a two-hitter, walking a way with her team with a 7-0 win. Lady Rams competing in last AAC conference game The Lady Rams will be looking to finish their season with a few more rescheduled games over the next several weeks as they prepare for the 2011 NCCAA Women’s Softball World Series.
