Lady Rams Soccer looks for 'W' in Ohio By Sports Information Department BC | August 26, 2011 | RSS Bluefield College Athletics Sports Information Department Bluefield, Virginia Bluefield College women's soccer is set for a challenging, yet rewarding season as the team travels to Portsmouth, Ohio to face Shawnee State University. (alongside men's soccer) The Lady Rams opened their 2011 campaign with two tough exhibition scrimmages with West Virginia Wesleyan and Tusculum, both teams in the Top 25 national rankings each season. "Our team stuck together over the last two matches. These games were a learning experience for the squad. The women really understand now the importance of working as a unit for a full 90 minutes", added head coach Samantha Snow. "We need to use those components and transition them into this weekend's match". Last season, Shawnee State were 9-7 overall and were led in scoring by Brittany Brooks who tallied 11 goals in her junior season. Bluefield will look to slow her down on the defensive end among another key points. Bluefield will open their home campaign on Monday versus West Virginia Tech (another Mid-South Conference foe) at 5:30pm at the East River Soccer Complex.
