Lady Rams secure 3rd place with 73-61 win over Columbia By Sports Information Department BC | February 19, 2012 | RSS Bluefield College Athletics Sports Information Department Bluefield, Virginia Bluefield- Bluefield’s women’s basketball team (19-9, 13-5 AAC) closed out the regular season with a win at home against Columbia. Columbia took a quick 6-0 lead in the first half. The Lady Rams fought back and a three-pointer from Celinda Arrington gave Bluefield its first lead at 10-8. Bluefield went on a 17-4 run halfway through the first half, but Columbia was able to close the gap and tie the game at 18-18. Bluefield extended the lead and held a 35-28 lead going into halftime. Columbia fought back and tied the game again at 46-46 halfway through the second half, but the Lady Rams answered with a 16-2 run to put the game out of reach. Teqa McNeal scored 13 points to lead the Lady Rams. Kia Gilliard had 12 points and six rebounds. Monique Robson finished with 11 points. The win gives Bluefield sole possession of third place in the final AAC polls, and will face Milligan on Wednesday in Bluefield at 7:00pm EST.
