Lady Rams Season Wraps Up With Noteworthy Performances May 7, 2010 | RSS Bluefield, VA—The Bluefield College women’s softball team ended the season with a lot of firsts and the promise of continuing to improve next season. Lindsey Palmer (above) leaves Lady Rams, Danielle Furniss (below) has standout freshman season. The Lady Rams will lose senior Lindsey Palmer to graduation as well as junior Alexa Carter who will be using her spring semester as intern hours, thus taking her off the mound for the Lady Rams. But this season the Lady Rams finished with a 10-26 record winning four games against Alice Lloyd College. Danielle Furniss, a freshman from Lynchburg, Virginia tied her career record of nine strikeouts in a single game. This marks Furniss’ second time doing so this season, and the second time against Alice Lloyd College. Furniss also had a total of 18 strikeouts and was 4/4 at bat with five RBI’s against Alice Lloyd College. Furniss also broke a single game career record with 10 strikeouts versus West Virginia Tech. Another standout player for the Lady Rams was Holly Bandy, a freshman from Richlands, Virginia who went 5 for 7 at bat with 2 RBI’s versus Alice Lloyd College. Heather Thomas, a freshman from Glade Springs, Virginia; was 3 for 5 at bat with 6 RBI’s and a homerun against Alice Lloyd. Whitney Sparks, a sophomore from Covington, Virginia was the only player in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) who did not have an error. Sparks plays right-field for the Lady Rams.
