The Bluefield women’s volleyball team’s three-match winning streak was snapped last night as they fell in straight sets to Montreat in the Dome Gymnasium.
After racking up their first three wins of the season, the Lady Rams (3-5, 1-2 AAC) were unable to slow Montreat’s momentum in the first two sets. The Lady Cavaliers were able to get production from nearly every player on the floor and took down Bluefield 25-14, 25-11, 25-23.
Bluefield kept a back-and-forth third set close, but were unable to sustain a rally and force a fourth set.
Junior hitter Megan Randall led Bluefield with seven kills. Freshman Katey Hall added four kills. Junior setter Cheznee Daily had 12 assists and three kills.
Senior defensive specialist Yeda Duarte finished with 10 digs. She is currently ranked sixth in NAIA Division I, averaging 6.3 digs per game.
The Lady Rams will be away for their next four matches beginning at Bryan College on Friday. The next home match will be on Sept. 27 at 6 pm against Union.
