Lady Rams Beat Alice Lloyd

Bluefield, VA—The Lady Rams showed they were much wiser than their roster years indicate when they played Alice Lloyd College winning both games with scores of 4-1 and 8-0 on March 31.

In game one behind freshman pitcher Danielle Furniss, from Lynchburg, Virginia. Furniss who had nine strikeouts, two earned runs, and one walk during the game.


“This marks Danielle’s career high for a single game against Alice Lloyd,” said Charolette Shelton, head women’s softball coach.


Two other freshmen enjoyed standout days for the Lady Rams. Lindsay Sizemore, Covington, Virginia; was four for six at bat with three RBI’s, and 2 homeruns. Another standout was Heather Thomas, Glade Spring, Virginia; went three for six at bat with one RBI.


In game two the Lady Rams was led by Junior pitcher Alexa Carter from Alderson, West Virginia. Carter pitched a shutout game allowing only four hits and two walks.


The Lady Rams play a doubleheader at home, April 16 vs. Alice Lloyd College beginning at 2 p.m.
