Fulbright Scholar from Nigeria Speaks at Bluefield College
Dr. Oluwafemi Faseun, a Fulbright Scholar in music from Lagos, Nigeria, spoke on the campus of Bluefield College, Friday, February 26.

Dr. Faseun, a senior lecturer for the Department of Theater Arts and Music at Lagos State University in Nigeria, offered two presentations on the BC campus. He spoke to one group of students, faculty, staff and friends about the "Historical Development of Music Practices in the Nigerian Church" and again to another group on "Musical Instruments in Music Making and Communication: The Art of Dundun."
Dr. Faseun, whose expertise is African music and ethnomusicology, is in the United States as part of the Fulbright Scholar Program as a scholar-in-residence at North Carolina Central University in Durharm. Administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), the Fulbright Scholar Program is the U.S. government's flagship academic exchange program, designed to create awareness, understanding and ultimately peace among nations.
Dr. Faseun came to Bluefield from North Carolina Central University through the efforts of Dr. Sudhakar Jamkhandi and the Office of International Initiatives at Bluefield State College, where he also offered a variety of lectures.
