Bluefield- The men's soccer team defeated the visiting Crusaders of Tennessee Temple 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at the East River Soccer Complex behind two second half goals by F Pedro Frazillio.

What started off as a sluggish match for Bluefield, the Rams finally ignited in the second half with two goals to jump ahead on the Crusaders.

The Rams had the early lead in the first half, when Jacob Mader lofted a ball from the left side over the out-of-position Temple goalkeeper. Mader's shot went far side netting to give the Rams the 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute. The goal was Mader's ninth goal of the season.

It would stay 1-0 for the remaining portion of the first half, as the Rams only allowed three shots in the first frame.

The second half was a much different story, as the Rams were able to stretch the Temple defense out and open possession up for several spans throughout the half.

The second goal was created off a nice run from outside back, Cody Snow. Pushing forward, Snow pushed the ball into dangerous area and was clipped from behind setting up a free kick for the Rams. Frazillio's bending right-footed shot went 'upper 90', giving the Rams a 2-0 lead in the 51st minute.

Just 11 minutes later, the Rams continued to push numbers forward into the attack and again Cody Snow made a great effort to beat his defender along the left side. His service into the box found Frazillio's head. Pedro flicked the ball over his defender and over top the GK's outstretched hands, extending the Rams lead to 3-0.

The Rams gave up a late goal to the Crusaders on a counterattack, pulling the score back to 3-1, but the late push wouldn't be enough for the visiting team as Bluefield held on to the lead for the win.

The Rams extend their record to 7-7-1 overall, and 1-4 in the AAC. The Rams will have a mid-week break, and will have a full week to prepare for a huge conference match next Saturday on Senior Day when they host Montreat College.
