Bluefield College has slated its final summer reunion gatherings for alumni and friends, including two regional alumni chapter get-togethers, one final BC @ the Ballpark event, and a football tailgate for alumni and friends.

The alumni chapter gatherings will join alumni and friends in Central Virginia on July 21 and the New River Valley on July 28. Centered around one of America’s greatest pastimes, the BC @ the Ballpark events reunite Bluefield College alumni and friends at minor league baseball venues. The last of summer 2018 will be in Pulaski on August 21. The final event of the summer will be an alumni tailgate reunion, bringing Ram fans together at BC’s 2018 home football opener in Bluefield on August 25.

Central Virginia Alumni Reunion: July 21

The Central Virginia alumni gathering will be Saturday, July 21 at noon and will feature special guests from the Rams football team – head coach Dewey Lusk and associate head coach Dino Kaklis – who will be sharing a preview of the upcoming 2018 season. Alumna Peggy Emert Bickford (’71) and her husband, Steve, an honorary alumnus, will host the Central Virginia reunion at their home in Buckingham County (1056 C.G. Woodson Road, New Canton, VA). For nearly 30 years, BC grads gathered at the home of alumni Bobby (’58) and Joyce Mullikin (’58) Gentry in Charlottesville for the Central Virginia reunion, but in 2017 the Gentrys passed the torch to the Bickfords who now host the event.

“We decided to begin hosting this gathering out of respect for the tradition and wanting to see the event continue and because of the love we have for Bluefield College and our fellow alumni,” said Peggy Bickford. “We want everyone to enjoy themselves in a very casual atmosphere. We are looking forward to seeing old friends, making new ones, sharing memories of days spent at BC, and continuing the tradition established by Mr. and Mrs. Gentry 30 years ago.”

The cost for the Central Virginia reunion is $8 per person and free to children 12 and under and will include a meal, fellowship, a short tour of a 1926 Rosenwald Schoolhouse on the Bickford property, and the preview of Rams 2018 football.

New River Valley Alumni Reunion: July 28

Alumni from the New River Valley are invited to a potluck reunion at the home of Fran Webb Louthan (’60) and her husband, Dick, on Claytor Lake (7154 Island View Way, Dublin, VA), Saturday, July 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to a potluck meal and plenty of fellowship, the gathering will serve as a meeting of the New River Valley Regional Alumni Chapter. Parents of current BC students, along with trustees and other BC friends are invited to join alumni for the gathering. Guests are asked to bring a side dish to go with hot dogs, which will be provided.

BC @ the Ballpark in Pulaski: August 21

The final BC @ the Ballpark gathering will be for alumni and friends from Pulaski on Tuesday, August 21 at 7:05 p.m. at Calfee Park (700 S. Washington Avenue, Pulaski, VA), where the Pulaski Yankees, a rookie-league affiliate of the New York Yankees, will take on the Princeton Rays. The cost for the Pulaski BC @ the Ballpark event is just $15 per person, which includes a ticket to watch the game in the BC Alumni Zone and a concessions voucher. Register by August 10 to secure your seats for the fifth consecutive Pulaski BC @ the Ballpark reunion

Football Tailgate Alumni Reunion: August 25

The final summer alumni reunion will be a football tailgate gathering on Saturday, August 25 at 4 p.m. prior to the start of the Rams 2018 season opener against Cumberland University at Mitchell Stadium (Stadium Drive, Bluefield, WV) at 5:30 p.m. Hosted by the Hometown Regional Alumni Chapter, the family-friendly tailgate will cost just $10 per person, which includes a tailgate meal and a ticket to the game.
