
Ferrum Skates by the Lady Rams
A penalty kick in the 81st minute of play, converted by Casey Johnson, was enough to lift Ferrum College (5-1) to a 2-1 non- conference women's soccer win over Bluefield College Friday night at Penn- Roediger Field.

Ferrum, VA—A penalty kick in the 81st minute of play, converted by Casey Johnson, was enough to lift FerrumCollege (5-1) to a 2-1 non- conference women's soccer win over Bluefield College Friday night at Penn- Roediger Field.
The Lady Rams played tough in front of a 200+ crowd and although controlled the second half, couldn't find the finishing goal.
Stephanie Marshall gave Ferrum a 1-0 halftime lead with an unassisted goal at 20:48. Freshman midfielder Melissa Hubbert tied the match with a goal in the 57th minute of play, with an assist from Grace Drake.
Ferrum's Kara Pegram was taken down inside the box by Bluefield goalkeeper Jackie Gonzalez at the 80:45 mark. Johnson converted the PK to put Ferrum on top for good and Panther eked out the win.
Gonzalez made nine saves in the net for Bluefield (2-5-1), while Katie Hodkinson made one save for Ferrum. The Panthers out- shot Bluefield 16-2 and closed with a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Lady Rams will be back at home this week taking on NC Wesleyan Wednesday night at 5:00 pm and Saturday at 2:00 pm versus Reinhardt University.
