Bluefield College will host a series of reunions for alumni and friends in Virginia and North Carolina this fall, featuring Rams football, a 25th anniversary celebration for men’s soccer, Homecoming, and presentations by President David Olive.

The first of the gatherings for alumni and friends will be a football tailgate event prior to the start of the BC football scrimmage game against Emory and Henry College, Friday, August 18 at Richlands (VA) High School’s Ernie Hicks Stadium. The tailgate reunion begins at 4 p.m. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

“This will be a great time to catch up with alumni and friends,” said BC’s Josh Grubb, director of alumni relations, “and to check out the Rams before they start regular season play on August 26.”

After the football tailgate, BC will travel across Virginia and North Carolina to host alumni and friends at three separate sites. These regional gatherings will include a presentation from President David Olive, along with the opportunity to reminisce with friends, catch up with former classmates, network with other Bluefield College grads, interact with Bluefield staffers, and take home a little BC swag.

The three regional alumni gatherings include: 1) lunch at the RA Bistro in Lynchburg, Virginia, Monday, August 21 at noon, 2) dinner at Santana’s Mexican Restaurant in Danville, Virginia, Monday, August 21 at 6 p.m., and 3) lunch at Five Points in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Tuesday, August 22 at noon.

Later in the fall, the college invites alumni and friends to celebrate the 25th anniversary of men’s soccer at Bluefield College with a two-day anniversary celebration, Friday and Saturday, September 15-16, featuring not only a time of reunion, but also current Rams soccer action and the opportunity to run a 5K for BC scholarships.

“All alumni and friends are invited, but especially former men’s soccer players,” said Grubb, “as we celebrate this special milestone with food, fellowship, soccer action, and fun.”

The soccer reunion will begin with a 25th anniversary dinner celebration at the Clover Club inside the Railyard in Bluefield, West Virginia, Friday, September 15 at 6 p.m. On Saturday, September 16 at 8 a.m. in front of BC’s Dome Gymnasium, guests are invited to take part in the 10th Annual Jason Elswick Memorial Scholarship 5K Run, designed to raise scholarships for BC students. At 11 a.m. on Saturday, alumni and friends are invited to a soccer reunion tailgate at East River Soccer Complex before the Lady Rams soccer team takes on Truett-McConnell University at noon and the men’s soccer team battles Truett at 2:30 p.m. For detailed pricing information, which includes the cost of a 25th anniversary commemorative t-shirt, visit www.bluefield.edu/reunions.

The marquee reunion event this fall will be Homecoming and Family Weekend, Friday through Sunday, October 20-22, featuring special get-togethers for the classes of ‘62, ‘67, ‘77, ‘87, ‘92, ‘97 and ’07, along with the presentation of distinguished alumni awards. The weekend will also include a Ram-2-Ram Alumni Career Seminar, the traditional scholarship auction, Rams football and tailgating, dinner theatre, dancing, fireworks, worship, and other reunion fun.
