Rising contemporary Christian music star Dakota Green will be the featured artist for a Bluefield College Coffeehouse, Friday, April 29 at 7 p.m. at the Quick Shott Café inside BC's Shott Hall.
The event also will include appearances by worship leader Nic Bjorling from Cedar Bluff, Virginia, and guest speaker R.J. Whited, a youth minister from Honaker, Virginia.
As part of "The Only Real Thing Tour," the Green Coffeehouse is designed to promote his sophomore CD, which includes the hit single "All I Wanna Know," ranked #33 on the Christian Radio Weekly (CRW) Global Adult Contemporary (AC) chart and #22 on the Contemporary Hit Radio (CHR) Global AC chart.
Realizing music was his passion at a very young age, Green began recording his lyrics and songs while still in his teens. By the time he was 20, he had signed a publishing deal with Yellow Tree Music Group, allowing him to share his songwriting, and a promotions deal with Wonderment Entertainment just prior to the release of his debut album, "Waiting on an Answer."
Shortly thereafter, Green began touring nationwide, playing at various venues all over the United States to promote his freshman release. Today, he's back in the studio working on his second CD, "Love is Taking Over," and back on the road sharing his music and message.
"Dakota is one of the most creative and real artists I've worked with in a long time," said Kelly Garner, owner of Yellow Tree Music Group. "His songs reach right down to where people are in life. He is a breath of fresh air in today's marketplace."
A fusion of pop/rock and synth-pop, Green's music brings a message of hope to listeners. With a heart for God and for ministry, his goal is to reach people through music and to change their lives for the better. Influenced by David Archuleta, Owl City, Ferras, Robert Pierre, and The Fray, Green encourages young people to pursue their dreams.
The Green Coffeehouse is open to the community. For more information, please contact the Bluefield College Office of Public Relations by email at or by phone at 276-326-4212.
