Carpenter Named AAC Player of the Week

Asheville, NC- On Monday, the Appalachian Athletic Conference announced its weekly all-conference awards for men's and women's basketball. The Bluefield men's basketball team received the top honor as Byron Carpenter received the Player of the Week award.
The junior center from Virginia Beach, Va., helped the Rams to a 3-0 record last week as they extended their win streak to five games. Bluefield is 8-7 overall and 2-0 in the AAC.
Carpenter averaged 21.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game last week, helping Bluefield to win the Bridgewater College Classic. He also had five blocks, four steals and three assists on the week. His best game came against Bridgewater when he poured in 32 points and hauled in nine rebounds in the 102-65 victory.

On the season, Carpenter is averaging 24.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
Carpenter and company will look to continue its hot streak over the next five days as they play two NCAA Division II opponents before the Christmas Break. One of the two games will be at home in Bluefield versus the University of Charleston.
