Byron Carpenter has been named to the National Christian College Athletic Association’s (NCCAA) All Mid-East first team while Kearsten Marion was named honorable mention.

Byron Carpenter has been named to the National Christian College Athletic Association’s (NCCAA) All Mid-East first team while Kearsten Marion was named honorable mention. The men's basketball all-region honors were announced this weekend as regional championships were completed.

Following nominations, the region’s coaches voted for the all-region teams. The top five vote-getters were placed on the first team, with the next five earning second team honors. The remaining student-athletes with votes earned honorable mention. Coaches were not able to vote for their own players.

Carpenter had a career year during his senior campaign for the Rams. The Virginia Beach, Va., native averaged 22.7 points per game and pulled down an average of 7.2 rebounds per contest. He led the NCCAA’s Mid-East Region in scoring, and ranked third in field goal percentage (57.1%), blocks (1.2/gm) and rebounds.

Carpenter finished his three-year Bluefield career having scored 1795 points, the second highest total in program history over the last decade.

Kearsten Marion controlled the Rams’ offense, running the point for the squad. The Houston, Texas native averaged 15.9 points per game and dished out 3.5 assists per contest. The junior ended the season shooting 40.7% from beyond the arc.

The guard ranked third in the region in scoring, fourth in steals (1.7/gm) and fifth in assists.
