Carpenter Leads Bluefield Past Cougars
The Bluefield College Rams got 34 points, nine rebounds and four steals from Byron Carpenter on their way to a 103-98 win over the Cougars of Ohio-Lancaster on Saturday afternoon in the annual Bevo Francis Tournament at Rio Grande College in southern Ohio.

RIO GRANDE, Ohio — The Bluefield College Rams got 34 points, nine rebounds and four steals from Byron Carpenter on their way to a 103-98 win over the Cougars of Ohio-Lancaster on Saturday afternoon in the annual Bevo Francis Tournament at Rio Grande College in southern Ohio.
Five Rams finished with double-figure scoring and BC made 55.6 percent of its floor shots to squeeze by the Cougars after leading by 48-47 at halftime. Carpenter was 14-for-19 from the field and 6-for-7 at the foul line.
Bluefield's Jewaun Wynn shared 10 assists and pulled off three steals, and nine Rams were credited with two or more rebounds.
Brandon Amann dropped in 46 points for the Cougars, making all 16 of his free throws and going 12-for-20 from the floor. Andy Gerschulz grabbed 15 of Lancaster's 19 steals.
The Rams play Rio Grande on Friday at Pikeville, Ky.
