Asheville, North Carolina- The Appalachian Athetic Conference announced its weekly conference Spring sports individual awards for last week on Monday and Bluefield's thirdbasemen Zac Goodyear took home the Player of the Week honor.
The junior infielder from Stuarts Gap, Virginia helped lead the Rams to a 3-1 record last week including huge offensive performances over the past ten days.
Goodyear went 10-for-12 with four runs scored and nine RBIs, including a triple and four doubles last week for Bluefield. He had three hits in the game against Southern Virginia including a 4-RBI performance.
He also chipped in with Bluefield's two of three game series win over Intermont on the weekend, when the Rams put up 38 combined runs in the three games. He had 5 RBI's in two of the games.
For the year, Goodyear is hitting .365 with four home runs and 31 RBIs. He would look to continue to produce at the plate when the Rams host two more non-conference teams this week in UVA-Wise and Emory & Henry on Tuesday and Wednesday.
