Roanoke, Virginia- A 14-4 advantage to the Rams was the final as Bluefield defeated Roanoke College on a Tuesday night cap under the lights on the road.

The Rams, coming off three straight losses in conference play to Union, bounced back with a dominating performance to the NCAA Div III side.

It didn't take long for Bluefield to gain a huge advantage as the Rams busted loose for eight runs on eight hits in the first inning.

Roanoke's starting pitcher Tim Sherbo was able to slow down Bluefield momentarily as he put down 11 of 14 batters in three consecutive innings.

Bluefield added to their lead though in both the fifth and sixth innings by getting two runs on two hits in the 5th and three more runs in the 6th.

The Rams did allow a two-run HR shot in the 5th to draw the Bluefield lead back to 10-4, but it wasn't enough as the Rams continued to put runs on the scoreboard.

P Joey Andrews went a full seven innings for Bluefield on the mound. A nice reward for Andrews, who has pitched very well in his last three outings, was able to pick up the win on the road for Bluefield. Andrews gave up 3 earned runs on seven hits while striking out five.

Both Taylor Marshall and Joshua Soto saw time on the mound as both pitchers picked up a full inning contributing two innings on no runs and just one hit allowed.

Bluefield was led at the plate by two players who had three RBI's each. Joe Gatewood went 3-5 with three runs and three RBI's, as Zac Goodyear also went 3-5 with two runs scored and three RBI's. Every Bluefield starter got at least one hit on the night.

The win gets Bluefield back on the winning track with many more games to come. The Rams are in the midst of middle-of-the-season cramped schedule and will play again on Wednesday against West Virginia Tech at 1pm EST.

Coach White has his hands full with this group. A lot of talent he has recruited, but they just aren't playing as a team, yet!
