Bluefield College to Host the NCCAA Softball Championships September 14, 2010 | RSS Bluefield, VA—The 2011 softball championship games will have a special meaning to Bluefield College,as the college will play host to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) national championships in Botetourt County at the Botetourt Sports Complex. Bluefield College is partnering with Botetourt County to host the tournament in 2011 as part of the three year deal signed with the NCCAA. The tournament will run from May 10 and will crown a champion on May 14, 2011. The tournament will feature eight to ten teams composed of nearly 250 players and coaches. The NCCAA teams, in addition to playing softball during the tournament will take part in the service projects in the host community of Botetourt County. Bluefield College has been a part of the NCCAA National Tournaments before getting hosting duties. The Bluefield College Rams Baseball team won the National title in 2009 and finishing second in 2010 marking the school’s first appearance in the NCCAA tournaments hosted in Mason, OH. The Lady Rams Basketball team also went to the NCCAA national tournament where they finished in 5th place beating King College in the basketball tournaments hosted by Grace College in Winona Lake, IL. Last year, the softball championships was hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic University in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; where participant schools came from California, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, and Tennessee.
