Bluefield College Homecoming 2010: Indulge in the Sweet Memories
Like a box of chocolates or a Whitman's Sampler, Bluefield College's Homecoming 2010 will offer alumni the opportunity to indulge in lots of sweet memories throughout a three-day weekend packed with reunions and activities for grads from all generations.

Set for Friday through Sunday, October 15-17, Homecoming 2010 will feature reunions, sporting events, awards, music, and worship, including a Golden Anniversary Reunion and Golden Graduates Society Induction for the class of 1960, intercollegiate and alumni games for basketball and soccer, a Homecoming Golf Tournament and Live Scholarship Auction to support the BC Fund for Scholarships, BC Theatre, and music and dancing before the crowning of the Homecoming Queen and King.
Alumni also will have the chance to return to the BC classroom with current students and professors, while a handful of distinguished BC grads will be honored with traditional alumni awards. The weekend will conclude with a new Homecoming activity, a Sunday Campus Community Worship Service in Harman Chapel.
A variety of activities have been scheduled to allow the Golden Anniversary class of 1960 the opportunity to indulge in sweet memories, including a Golden Graduates Society Dinner and Induction Ceremony, Friday at 5 p.m. in Shott Hall, where all Golden Graduates Society members will welcome the class of 1960 into the prestigious group.

The Golden grads will resume reminiscing on Saturday with a Golden Anniversary Breakfast at 8 a.m. in Shott Hall, followed by a Class Gift Dedication and Memorial Service in VanDyke Circle at 2 p.m.
Other reunions designed to bring back memories for all BC grads include the Alumni Awards Reception at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the old Ramsey School in Bluefield, West Virginia. In addition to indulging in sweet memories, the Awards Reception will feature hors d'oeuvres, deejay music and dancing, class pictures for the classes of 1940, '50, '60, '70, '80, '85, '90, and 2000, and the presentation of 2010 alumni awards.
And, if you'd like to dance later into the night on Saturday, join current students at the Homecoming Dance from 9:30 p.m. to midnight, where in addition to music and dancing the students will crown the 2010 Homecoming Court.
If it's sports in which you'd like to indulge, the Homecoming schedule features a variety of athletic events throughout the entire weekend with the first being a Homecoming Golf Tournament, Friday at 1 p.m. at Fincastle Country Club, where prizes will be awarded to the top two teams and individual leaders, and money will be raised for student scholarships. Cost for the Golf Tournament is $100 with all proceeds going to the BC Fund for Scholarships.
Other athletic events throughout the weekend include a men's alumni soccer game at 7 p.m. on Friday at East River Soccer Complex, where current BC players will mix with former Rams to create a two-team friendly competition; a women's soccer game versus local rival Concord University, Saturday at 10 a.m. at East River Soccer Complex; a men's soccer game versus Concord at noon on Saturday at East River; a men's junior varsity basketball game against Hiwassee College in the Dome Gymnasium at noon on Saturday; an alumni basketball game for men and women at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Dome; and a men's varsity basketball game versus Hiwassee College, Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Dome.
For alumni who'd like to indulge in a walk down memory lane or a stroll into reminiscent hall -- literally -- then "Back to School 101," will be the perfect opportunity as alumni are invited to go back to the classroom at 8 a.m. on Friday to sit in on lectures, interact with current students and faculty, and remember those ol' college days. The Homecoming schedule will also include campus tours, featuring the new East River Residence Hall and the recently renovated Student Activities Center, at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
If you'd like a sampling of drama, BC Theatre will present three performances of Mark Twain's "The Diaries of Adam and Eve," Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m., all in Harman Chapel. The play is a delightful stage adaptation of two of Mark Twain's lesser-known short stories that take a look at creation, giving us a humorous insight into the female and male perspectives.
If your favorite memories come from music, then catch the Homecoming Coffeehouse on Friday at 9 p.m. in BC's Shott Hall, featuring the "bluegrass with a modern twist" music of alumnus Derek Wright ('09) and current students Chris Keller and Shawn Howell. Starbucks Coffee will be available during the Coffeehouse from BC's Quick Shott Café.
If your passions are antique cars, roadsters or motorcycles, then don't miss the College Cruise-in, Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Bluefield City Park. In fact, alumni and friends are invited to bring their own hog, roadster, antique car, or unique automobile. The Cruise-in will also feature a meet-and-greet with BC's new head coach for football, Mike Gravier, near Mitchell Stadium, the home site for future Rams football games.
And, if want to indulge in vacations, recreation, art, dining out, discounts, and great sales, then the live Homecoming Scholarship Auction will have all you need, Saturday at 10 a.m. in Shott Hall. Art, crafts, retail and restaurant discounts, entertainment and recreation packages, and vacation getaways will all be up for bid and for a good cause as proceeds from the auction go to support the BC Fund for Scholarships.
Celebrate the culmination of Homecoming weekend with a Campus-Community Worship Service, Sunday, 9:30 a.m. in Harman Chapel. Alumnus and pastor Rod Hale from this year's Golden Anniversary class of 1960 will serve as keynote speaker with music provided by the BC Department of Music. An alumni/community breakfast will precede the Worship Service at 8:30 a.m., and lunch will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Shott Hall.

Get your Tiger on to help raise scholarship funds for the BC Fund for Scholarships. Prizes will be awarded to the top two teams, the longest putt, and the longest drive. A four-man captain's choice play will be the format for the tournament. The cost: $100 per player with all proceeds going to the BC Fund for Scholarships.

The Golden Graduates Society is a society for individuals who have been alumni 50 years or more. All Society members are asked to attend. The Society will welcome the class of 1960 this year, along with members of any class before that have yet to receive their medallions. Formal attire. Members to be inducted will be provided a free meal. Social hour begins at 5:00 p.m. with the dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Diaries of Adam and Eve is a delightful stage adaptation of two of Mark Twain's lesser-known short stories, The Diaries of Eve and Excerpts from the Diary of Adam. Together, their stories take a look at the creation from the diarist, giving us a humorous insight into the female and male perspective. The play will feature the talents of BC Theatre faculty Charles Reese and Rebecca McCoy-Reese, who bring Twain's characters to vivid life on stage.

Highlighted reunion year photos will be taken for the classes of 1940, '50, '60, '70, '80, '85, '90, and 2000. Many will remember the old Ramsey School building. It has recently undergone total renovations and is now becoming a premier events location in southern West Virginia. Church attire is suggested.

Bluefield College Homecoming 2010: A Community Affair
It's not your typical alumni event, not even an occasion just for students. Bluefield College's Homecoming 2010, Friday through Sunday, October 15-17, is a community affair with something for everyone, including former students, current students, and the community at-large.
Designed to bring the greater community together with the campus community, Bluefield College's Homecoming 2010 schedule features a host of events open to the public, including a golf tournament, basketball and soccer games, a theatrical production, a musical coffeehouse, a car show, a live auction, and a community worship service.
