Bluefield College will host a Celebration of Greek Life, Friday and Saturday, March 16-17, featuring a reunion for former fraternity brothers and sorority sisters and other activities for both past and present members of BC Greek life.

Spearheaded by current Bluefield College members of Alpha Delta sorority, Beta Chi Delta fraternity, and Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (STAT), the Celebration of Greek Life will commemorate the 25th anniversary of Alpha Delta, founded on the BC campus in 1993, and celebrate decades of all Greek life at Bluefield College.

“Alpha Delta is celebrating 25 years on campus this year, and we thought, ‘What better way to celebrate than with a reunion?’” said BC’s Savannah Carabin, current vice president of Alpha Delta. “We decided to open up our reunion to other Greek organizations on campus because we wanted to share the brotherhood and sisterhood and connect chapters to current members and allow other chapters to discuss the possibility of making their chapters active again.”

Carabin also noted the benefit of building relationships between current and former students through events like the Celebration of Greek Life. “Being able to connect alumni and current students is invaluable,” she said. “Our alumni can help in the future with resources for jobs or career advice.”

The celebration will begin Friday, March 16 at 5 p.m. with registration and a fellowship gathering inside BC’s Shott Hall. Day two, Saturday, March 17, will begin with registration and a brunch gathering at 10:30 a.m. in Shott Hall. The second day will also include campus tours at noon and a dinner-dance at 6 p.m. at Fincastle on the Mountain. Founding members of Alpha Delta will be recognized during the dinner-dance.

“I’m excited that the Alpha Deltas have decided to celebrate their 25th reunion in March since that was the month in 1993 that Alpha Delta was founded,” said Josh Grubb, a 2007 BC graduate and current director of alumni relations. “Events like this are so nice because they give the college and current students the opportunity to recognize the founders of Alpha Delta and the hard work it has taken over the years to keep this organization strong and thriving,”

The cost for the two-day celebration is $45 per person, which includes brunch, the dinner-dance, and a commemorative gift from the college. Grubb also noted that former students who did not graduate from Bluefield College, but completed two semesters at the school are still considered part of the Alumni Association and welcome to attend alumni events.
