Looking for a golf challenge? Interested in testing your green skills against the area’s best, while at the same time providing valuable scholarship support to student-athletes at Bluefield College?

Then, sign up today as a participant or sponsor of Bluefield College’s 16th Annual Tammy Lynn Outdoor Advertising Golfers’ Challenge, Friday, August 11 at Fincastle on the Mountain in Bluefield, Virginia.

Area golf enthusiasts are already joining the field of contestants who will compete in the 16th Annual BC Golfers’ Challenge, sponsored by Tammy Lynn Outdoor Advertising, one of the leading outdoor advertising companies in the region, owned and operated by Bud and Tammy Acken for more than 20 years. The competition is one that will give locals not only the chance to compete against the area’s best golfers for prizes, but also the opportunity to support student-athletes at Bluefield College. In fact, proceeds from the Challenge go directly to support scholarships for BC athletes.

“Proceeds from the Golfers’ Challenge are a vital source of financial aid for our student-athletes,” said BC vice president Ruth Blankenship. “In fact, nearly all of Bluefield College’s students depend on some form of financial aid, like the BC Fund. Without it, they might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend college.”

Nine separate participation levels are available for golfers and friends to support or sponsor the 2017 Golfers’ Challenge: 1) Luncheon Sponsor: $2,000, which includes two foursomes in the golf tournament, sponsorship signage on the course, promotion on tournament materials, a sign in the Dome Gymnasium, and passes to BC athletic events, 2) Corporate Sponsor: $1,000, which includes one foursome in the tournament, a hole sponsorship on the course, a sign in the Dome Gymnasium, and passes to BC athletic events, 3) Player Sponsor: $500, which includes a foursome in the tournament and a hole sponsorship on the course, 4) Four Person Team Sponsor: $400, which includes a foursome in the tournament, 5) Hole Sponsor: $250, which includes a sign at one of the 18 holes on the course and one player participation, 6) Drink and Snack Sponsor: $250, which includes promotional signage at the tournament, 7) Friend of the Tournament: $100, which includes promotional signage at the tournament, 8) Individual Player: $125, which includes one player participation in tournament, and 9) Golf Cart Sponsor: $50, which includes a sign on a golf cart at the tournament. A foursome in the tournament includes a cart, green fees, refreshments, and lunch at Fincastle on the Mountain

The play format for the BC Challenge will be a four-man scramble with a captain’s choice. Registration for the event will begin at 8 a.m. and will include a light breakfast followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and then lunch at Fincastle after the tournament.

Team prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place finishers. Individual awards also will be presented to the players with the “longest drive” and the shot “closest to the pin.” Additional prizes will be given away through drawings held during the day.
