THE LANGUAGE OF MUSIC

Learning how to speak, read, and communicate musically

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Music is actually a language, just like French or Russian-with its own alphabet, rules, and grammar. The problem many people have with music is not that you ‘aren’t musical.’ Rather, it’s because no one ever taught you how to speak the language of music! This class, (over five weekly one-hour sessions) starts with the fundamentals of music and builds from there. You'll learn how rhythm, melody, and even harmony work together; by the end of class, you will understand how music works, so that you can start making your own music! Once you complete this course, you'll be able to read, notate, and even play a simple musical piece on a keyboard.
