Glen Allen, Virginia- The Bluefield College women’s volleyball team has signed another recruit for the 2012 season with the addition of Amber Bailey, who has decided to further her education at Bluefield College and continue her volleyball career with the Lady Rams.

Bailey, a 5-foot-7 setter/opp from Glen Allen, Virginia, and soon to be 2012 graduate was a 4 year Honor Roll Athlete at Hermitage High School.  Bailey, daughter of Buddy and Heidi Bailey, contributed 30 kills, 74 digs, 145 assists, 55 aces and 17 blocks her senior year at Hermitage.

"We are excited that Amber is joining the Lady Rams volleyball program, said Bluefield College coach Brian Votaw, who is entering his second season as the head coach at Bluefield.  “She has an incredible work ethic and is willing to do whatever it takes to help her team achieve.  Amber’s commitment and dedication to become a  solid player has earned her the opportunity to become a part of our program which we believe she will continue to improve in all aspects of her game.””

"Amber’s willingness to aggressively go after any ball near her is a quality not found in many, and that is one of the things that first attracted me to Amber.  She has prepared herself well by playing high school under Coach Jake Mapes and with two excellent clubs as she played for RVC and the Mid-Atlantic Volleyball Club where she was coached by Liz Ragland. We look forward to her contribution to our team while we build this program.”

In addition to playing volleyball at Hermitage High School, Bailey was president of the FEA and was the yearbook editor.  She was also a member of the Quill and Scroll and was a honor camper at Church Camp.

"I chose Bluefield College because it has just what I’m looking for in a college said Bailey of her college choice. "I get to become a part of an amazing team with a great coach."  "The fact that it is also a small college that has my special education degree was also a huge factor in my decision.

Bluefield will open preseason camp for the 2012 Fall season in early August ahead of its first season in the NAIA's Mid-South Conference.
