Dr. Charlie Faith Fund
Bluefield College commemorates the life and presidency of Dr. Charles Harman, better known as Dr. Charlie to those who knew him well, with the establishment of the Dr. Charlie Faith Fund, a memorial giving fund designed to advance the vision and preserve the memory of this onetime BC president while providing vital scholarship assistance to Bluefield College students.
While serving as the fifth president of Bluefield College from 1946 to 1972, Dr. Harman engineered the school’s most notable growth in history.
“Dr. Harman served as a guide and guardian of this institution,” said David Armbrister, a retired BC professor and historian. “His leadership elevated the school to a top level among institutions of higher learning. He was firmly committed to developing Bluefield College into a leading Christian institution with high academic credentials.”
As a tribute to Dr. Harman’s watchful eye and leadership, Bluefield College established the Dr. Charlie Faith Fund to allow alumni, current and former faculty and staff, and other BC friends to give to the college to help preserve the Harman legacy and to make the school’s Christ-centered higher education more accessible to students.
The Dr. Charlie Faith Fund honored the 100th anniversary of Dr. Harman’s birth and the 60th anniversary of the year he took office as president of Bluefield College at its establishment.
Donors who become members of the Dr. Charlie Faith Fund are alumni and friends who intentionally, humbly and sacrificially support the BC Fund, faithfully helping to bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of education for students -- like Dr. Charles Harman did personally countless times for students himself.
Members of the Dr. Charlie Faith Fund:
- Provide an annual gift of $1,000 or more to the BC Fund,
- Promote Bluefield College among friends and family, and
