How Can I Make This All Work

• Apply to Bluefield (you can save $30 right here if you do it online!)

• Fill out your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online at www.fafsa.gov. If you fill out your FAFSA as early as you can, it puts you closer to the front of the line for the (limited) need-based aid with the federal government and with us. We use the Expected Family Contribution amount determined by the FAFSA as a guide for how much money you can qualify for at Bluefield.

• Dialogue with your admissions counselor and let him or her know what your needs are.

• Talk with one of our financial aid staff members. They will ask questions to determine how to get the most money through the different financial aid programs and funding sources. And she can also point you toward other scholarships and avenues where you can find outside money for your education.

• Start early, and invest the time to apply for scholarships and grants from businesses, trusts, and resources in your church and community.

• Pay close attention to deadlines. Our priority deadline for receiving your financial aid information is March 15.  We ask that students submit all required paperwork by June 1 so that we have time to process your aid in time for summer preliminary billing, to protect your class schedule, and to provide a smooth move-in day experience.
