“On a personal note, the Online Program has been a perfect venue for me to obtain my degree. I first started working on it in 1992 but was sidelined at the time and then over the past twelve years I have been deployed multiple times overseas with combat in Afghanistan and Iraq. I do not think I could have gotten this close to a degree had it not been for this program and hope to graduate in December (I think Algebra might be a tough one). Thank you for making this program so veteran friendly.” – Doug Buntz
“The teachers have been great and Bluefield makes the online program conducive to working families.” – Jerry Anthony Moore
I wanted to take this time and let you know how much your staff helped me in obtaining my degree. I never thought I would have this opportunity to achieve this high honor and I am proud to say I am an alumni of Bluefield College. Dr. Walls, Dr. Farmer, Dr. Stout, Ms. Bailey, Ms. Cathy Payne, and everyone else I was in contact with there went above and beyond to assist me anytime I called or met with them in person. They all seemed to know the hardships of working a full time job, raising a family and completing school. For that I praise your staff.
My wife and I adopted two brothers seven years ago and by watching me cross that stage December 18 it has made them want to follow me in obtaining their degrees. My children wanting to follow me in academic endeavors is the most important achievement to my wife and I. Bluefield College and the great staff there has made this achievement possible and for that I am thankful.
Although I know you know the caliber of your staff I felt compelled to personally send you this email praising your faculty. Thank you." – Bill Perry
Winnie Rasnake was a single mom of two girls. She decided that the only way to move up in her organization was to get a bachelor’s degree. She was an assistant and she wanted the next step up. She had an associate’s degree when she started at Bluefield College in the adult completion program. In approximately one year, she had her bachelor’s degree. She said the program was flexible and very doable for a working mom. She did move up to the next level and received a 43% increase in salary. Winnie is employed by Pocahontas State Correctional Center.
Dr. Theresa Turner’s goal in high school was to attend Bluefield College. Coming from a family of limited income, resources to pay for a four-year college were not available. As an alternative, she attended and graduated from New River Community College with degrees in Accounting and Business Management. Later as a working adult, she discovered Bluefield College offered an adult completion program, and was thrilled to finally get to achieve her goal of becoming a Ram!
Theresa is very thankful that she was able to complete her bachelor’s degree. That opportunity was the catalyst for her quest to further her education, no matter the debt of those fun student loans. She continued to work full-time while completing her MBA and doctorate degrees. Theresa is now the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Draper Aden Associates in Blacksburg, Virginia. She serves on the Board of Directors for the company and has recently joined the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity NRV.
