Students majoring in English will refine their writing skills, develop their understanding of American and European literary history, and appreciate the achievements of particular authors. Through close relationships with professors and outstanding internship opportunities, students can refine the thinking and communication skills essential to any career.

Concentrations

Literature Concentration

This concentration is for students who want to teach English, to pursue a graduate degree in literature, or to gain a deeper understanding of the written word and the literary tradition.

Writing Concentration

This option is geared for students looking toward a career in journalism, fiction or poetry writing, or writing within the business community in public relations or as a technical writer or consultant. This concentration complements any major, especially for the student looking ahead to graduate school.
