Bio:
Dr. Scott C. Bryan, II joined the Bluefield College family in 1986. Upon arrival at Bluefield, he designed the Exercise & Sports Science curriculum. Dr. Bryan began as founder of the ESS concentration and is now the Division Chair. Starting his 24th year at the College, he oversees the Division and teaches courses in exercise science, teacher and coaching preparation and health education. In 2008 Dr. Bryan traveled to Salzburg, Austria as part of the Appalachian College Association to study global education. In 2010 Dr. Bryan completed post-doctoral course work in health education at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. Dr. Bryan greatest professional enjoyment comes from the academic, career and personal accomplishments he sees his students realize. Over the years, graduates have gone on to become successful in a multitude of careers. ESS graduates can be found happily working in a plethora of careers - teaching and coaching, working in sports medicine, serving in ministry, running a sport business, or heading a recreation department. Equally important, graduates go on to live rewarding lives as servant-leaders in their families, their communities and to God.
Douglas W. Minnix

Bio:
Dr. Minnix joined the Bluefield College faculty in 2001. His background includes 20 years of academic and field experience in clinical rehabilitation and prevention. He has served in various hospital and wellness settings in positions such as cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, aquatic exercise, therapeutic exercise, industrial medicine, and health and fitness specialist. Currently, Dr. Minnix serves as the Director of Sports Medicine at Bluefield College. He teaches courses in Kinesiology, Test and Measurements, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Therapeutic Exercise, Motor Learning, Nutrition and Metabolism, and Personal and Community Health. Dr. Minnix works closely with students to develop their chosen area of expertise within the area of Sports Medicine.
